7 Days on the Amalfi Coast: A Day-by-Day Sailing Itinerary

The Amalfi Coast is the one Mediterranean cruising ground that genuinely rewards arriving by sea. The villages were built for boats, the coast road above them is a summer traffic jam, and the best tables face the water. A week is enough to weave the coast together with the islands that frame the Bay of Naples — here is how a crewed charter typically shapes those seven days.

Day 1 — Board in Sorrento or Naples

Most charters board late afternoon from Naples, Castellammare di Stabia or Sorrento. Settle in, provision, and make a short first hop to a calm anchorage — Nerano's Marina del Cantone is ideal — for a quiet first night and dinner ashore before the coast proper begins.

Day 2 — Capri

An early start beats the day boats to Capri. Swim in the shadow of the Faraglioni sea stacks, take the tender around to the Blue Grotto if the swell allows, then stay on a buoy overnight: once the last hydrofoil leaves, the Piazzetta at 22:00 is a different island entirely.

Day 3 — Positano

Sail east to Positano and anchor off the beach — the vertical village stacked into the cliff is the coast's defining view. Tender in for an aperitivo, or ask the crew to book a table at Da Adolfo, reached only by boat. This is a short sailing day by design; the scenery is the itinerary.

Day 4 — Amalfi and Ravello

Anchor below the town of Amalfi itself, with its striped cathedral, then send anyone who wants a land day up to Ravello's cliff-edge gardens. Cetara, a little further east, is the anchovy village — its colatura di alici is worth carrying home.

Day 5 — Li Galli and back west

The Li Galli islets — said to be Homer's Sirens, once owned by Nureyev — make a spectacular lunch anchorage. Swim, then begin working back toward the Bay of Naples islands for the second half of the week.

Day 6 — Ischia and Procida

Ischia is the green, thermal-spring island: a morning soak at Sorgeto, an afternoon anchored off car-free Sant'Angelo. Tiny Procida next door has the pastel harbour of Corricella — the lunch stop everyone remembers.

Day 7 — A final swim, then disembark

Charters usually end Saturday morning back at the departure marina, leaving time for a last swim on the way in. If your flight is later, Sorrento's lemon-grove lanes are an easy final stroll.
